Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor, speaker, consultant and syndicated columnist. She is also an television host, and author. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then left the company. Corcoran was one of the original Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. By February 2020, she had signed 53 deals. The largest of these was a purchase of $350,000 to Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran, who was the second of 10 children from a working-class Irish-Catholic family, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran’s childhood. Her family frequently depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocery store. Corcoran is still able to remember her father as someone who was drunk often and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran was a troubled pupil throughout her schooling. Later, she discovered she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated at a Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran was a failure in numerous classes in her first year of high school, was moved to Leonia High School. There, she received a D.
